Time to Get Ready for Summer!
The countdown to summer has begun. If you are still dealing with the repercussions from a gluttonous winter, spent gorging on fatty foods and cuddling under your blankets instead of working out, there’s very little time for you to spare. Before you know it, beach days will be here, and unless you’re ready to kick start your workout routine in spring, it’s unlikely that you’ll be ready, fit and toned before summer gets here.

Even if you did work out during winter, you’re not home free. Many people, who made gains braving the bitter cold and winter winds to work out over the past few months, tend to take it slow when spring comes around. They fail to continue with the momentum that they have built up during the cold weeks, and neglect to create a plan that will help them continue to remain in shape during summer.
This season, spring clean your fitness routine, fine-tuning it and including only those activities that are guaranteed to show results.* Feel free to call us at (888) 323-8677 if you need some ideas!
Remember however, to take it slow. If you have spent the entire winter hibernating, and not doing a lot of working out, you don’t want to simply rush in to an overactive cardio schedule, or fitness regimen during spring. Start off with a basic walking routine of just about 20-30 minutes today. If you have spent much of winter going without exercise, the last thing that you want to do is to start off with a 10 mile run on your very first day of your spring workout!
Start Slowly
Take it slow and easy. Get medical advice from your doctor before starting any kind of fitness regimen after a prolonged absence from exercise. This is especially true in the case of people who suffer from hypertension, diabetes, or any other health-related problems. Consider meeting with one of our in-home personal trainers about exercises that can help you get warmed up, and ready for more aggressive pre-summer workouts.
Common spring allergies are also another reason why so many people neglect working out during this season. Talk to your doctor about spring allergy medications, and try to avoid working out during the time of the day that you find your symptoms are maximized.

Define Your Goals
Before you start off your spring workout, identify your most important fitness goals for the summer.
- Is it getting ready for the beach-ready bod that you want to flaunt?
- Is it fitting into your new bathing suit and impressing everyone on the sand?
- Is it building more stamina that can allow you to enjoy your favorite summer sports and touch football for hours?
- Is it getting in better shape so that you can enjoy all of your summer activities and water sports without feeling run down?
No matter what your goals are, ensure that you have an exercise regimen that helps you meet those goals. Remember, an exercise program that is aimed at giving you flat abs and a tight bottom won’t guarantee that you will have the stamina to chase your kids or grandkids around all weekend.
Discuss your goals for summer fitness with one of our at home personal trainers, and work together with him or her to design an exercise program that is right for you.
Eat Right
Don’t ignore your diet. Spring is the ideal time to dig into all of nature’s bounty. The markets are overflowing with seasonal fruits and vegetables. Stock up on berries, and fresh herbs, and whip up your favorite smoothies and shakes using these wholesome foods.
Partner Up
Remember not to go it alone. If you are returning to exercise after a while, you are likely to feel lethargic and listless after the initial excitement of exercising wears off. Lack of motivation is a serious factor impeding the most well-intentioned spring workout plans.
Get together with a buddy and partner. Get a walking group going, or get a group of friends together for a cycling session in the mornings. Having friends around motivates you, and keeps you going even on those days when you find your workout dull and uninteresting.
If your friends and family aren’t willing to exercise with you, consider working with one of our personal trainers in the privacy of your home, or outside in your community.
Inject Fun into your Workouts
Look for interesting options to get fit. Spring is when flowers are in full bloom, and the weather is just right for you to be exercising outdoors. Tired of regular exercise? Look into having tennis lessons. Always wanted to train for a 5k? Make this spring when you actually do it!
Put the spring back into your exercise routine this season, with smart goals, a healthy diet, and an exercise routine that you enjoy!
